Stanislaus County Fair 2011

My mother in law's birthday was last Tuesday, and originally we were going to go over to their house for a BBQ, but she decided that she wanted to go to the fair, which was more than okay for us!  I haven't been to the fair since I was little, so Matt and I had never been together, and obviously, Brooklynne had never been.

We got a free beach ball when we walked in, and B loved playing with it.

Matt's always wanted to win something for me through one of the silly fair games.  We like giraffes, and I saw one of these being carried by someone when we walked into the fair, so I told Matt that I wanted him to win one for Brooklynne and me.  We found the game that had the giraffes, and it was the one where you have to throw the hoop around the ducks neck, but the ducks were moving around in a circle in water.  It was one try for $2, or three for $5.  He said he was only going to try once, and he did it!  I was so impressed, and Brooklynne loves the giraffe, she was trying to eat its ears the whole evening (she does try to eat everything these days, though).

Brooklynne enjoyed looking at all the animals, and wanted to cuddle with this super fluffy bunny!

I was very impressed with Brooklynne, this is the only time she slept the whole evening, and we didn't leave until 11:45.  She never got fussy the entire time.  She hung out in her stroller or in our arms, and watched all the lights, and took all the craziness in.  I'm not a fan of keeping her out that late, but once in a while, it's fun, but I'm thankful she didn't get upset.

Matt and his brothers are very silly.

They hung out and waited for us while I fed Brooklynne, and then we got funnel cakes...oh yum!!

Matt and I have very wide eyes, and Brooklynne looks like a doll in this picture.

Matt loved having Brooklynne there with us.

I love these photo booth pictures, and have wanted to take them with Matt for a long time, and we got the chance on Friday.  It took a lot of asking to get Matt to take them with me, and but once the pictures came out (he said the three minutes it takes to print them felt like 10) he was so glad we did it, because they're so cute!  Look at that precious little girl, I love how she's looking at me in the last shot.
We had such a fun time, and I hope we an make this an annual thing!

23 Weeks!

Brooklynne is 23 weeks old today, which means she's been here for 161 days, and what a blessing she is!  She loves to eat, and I've started combining foods for her, and she seems to really enjoy the combos.  She's had yams with green beans and today was butternut squash, carrots and green beans, and she loves it all!  I want to start trying chicken soon.
She is able to sit up on her own for almost 15 seconds before toppling over, and she's so cute when she's sitting, it's like a whole new world has opened up for her.
We leave next Wednesday for 5 days in Missouri with Aunt Juli and Uncle John. Matt will only be able to be with us for a week, and then he will fly home, so it will be very sad not to have him with us the whole time, but we're excited about the trip.  We'll be taking the train from Manteca (Bay Area) to Chicago, renting a car and driving up to Wisconsin, which is where my mom is from.  We'll be there for the weekend, and then drive down to Missouri and spend 2 weeks with John and Juli!  We'll fly back home, and it will be nice to have my parents with me so I don't have to fly alone with B.
Look, she has enough hair for a tiny, silly ponytail!

I did not expect that

Two nights ago Brooklynne was having a hard time falling asleep, which is not usual, but I was trying to let her just cry it out.  Matt went into check on her, and she had turned over, I wouldn't be concerned about this because she can roll over on her own, but we still swaddle her every night, so her hands are tight at her sides, and I didn't know if she'd be able to turn her head without her arms lifting herself up.

sorry for the blurry cell phone pictures

Well, Matt turned her over and she fell back asleep, but woke up 20 minutes later because she had rolled over again.  This time, she had gotten one arm out of the swaddle, so I turned her back over, put her pacifier back into her mouth and this time she fell asleep for real.

I decided to try swaddling her with her arms out last night to see how if she would sleep okay like that.

ack, blurry cell phone pictures

She seemed to be okay with it until I put her into her crib and left the room; she started screaming and would not stop.  I let her cry for a while, but after 10 minutes I went back in, and she was not having it.  I tried just putting her paci back a few more times (didn't work), and then decided to put one arm back in the swaddle.

girl loves her Minnie Mouse

She fell right asleep like that, so I'm going to do this a few more nights and then try again with both arms out, and we'll see how it goes.

22 weeks old!

Today B is 22 weeks old, and is finally asleep (after 15 minutes of screaming).  She is eating solid foods every day now, and loves them.  She has tried yams, green beans, carrots, butternut squash and peas. I couldn't get the peas pureed as well as the others, so they have a bit of texture to them, so I think it was throwing her off a bit.  She seemed to enjoy the flavor, because she kept opening her mouth, but she kept spitting half of it out of her mouth, and even gagged a few times.  I finally heated up some carrots for her, since she wasn't eating enough peas, and we'll try the peas again tonight.  She seems to be spitting up less and less every day, and it will be nice when she's sitting up on her own, because she won't spit up anymore. She just keeps on growing, and we love our big girl!!

5 Months Old!

Brooklynne turned 5 months old on Saturday, but due to the 2 wedding cakes I had this weekend, and my brother in law proposing to his girlfriend, I wasn't able to  do a post. As a 5 month old, Brooklynne knows how to roll over from her back to her tummy, and then from her tummy to her back, which means she is a mover!  I still swaddle her every night, despite that, she is able to start on one side of the crib and completely move to the other side and change the direction she was placed in.  She loves to bring her toes up to her mouth and chew on them while she's laying on her back, and she adores her toys!  I bought a play mat at the thrift store last month, and she loves to play with all the toys hanging from the top, and the ones I put around her.  She still loves her paci, and I'm not to the point where I mind it at all yet.

She is still a napper, taking 3 to 4 a day, the first around 10 for about an hour, the second around 12:30, and that's her long one, ranging from 2-4 hours (it was 5 hours today), and the last around 7 pm which is usually only 30-45 minutes long.  She loves Barley, and her favorite time of the day is when Daddy's home from work (also my favorite time).

Matt made Barley inter web appropriate.

21 weeks!

Brooklynne is 21 weeks old, and it has been the best 21 weeks of our lives.  She is such a fun little girl, and already has so much personality, which I knew would happen, but it's crazy that she's already showing some of that personality.  She's super fun to be around, and is almost always happy.  She is growing up so quickly, and I love that I get to watch her grow up!
I got her this rocking chair at the thrift store, and I'm hoping to paint it white to match her crib.
I gave her green beans on Friday, but I think she was too tired and hungry for them, she just put up a fight the whole time, so I just nursed her instead.  I tried the green beans again last night, and she loved them.  I'm still adding rice cereal to her veggies because the veggie by itself was too thin for her.
She has mastered the art of rolling from her back to her tummy, she had been trying to do it for a few weeks now, but always got stuck by her arm underneath her, but has now figured out how to pull her arm out from underneath her.
She continues to amaze us every day, we are so blessed!

Nass Family Reunion

In June, my family met at a camp site in Southern Oregon to go camping.   Like I said a few days ago, Krista and Jerrod are moving to Washington DC, so they're not going to be able to come to Thanksgiving.  So we all met to spend a few days together before they left.  We drove up with John and Juli, and my parents on Saturday, June 11.  The Csehs, and the Masons were already there, so we set up camp, and hung out that evening.  On Sunday we went to Julie and Jordan Lovell's church, which was so much fun.  Julie has been friends with my family since I was three, and they just got married in January and he's a pastor at their church, which happened to be less than 10 minutes from our camp site.

It was wonderful to hang out with the Lovell's!
The three girls had so much fun hanging out together, and we are so excited for B to be a little bigger so she can hang out with them at Thanksgiving.

We went to the river, but Brooklynne doesn't look very happy about having to stay in the shade (the river was so cold).  My little Karate Kid.

Brooklynne loved all the attention she got from her aunts and uncles, and I loved being able to hang out with all my nieces and nephews!

we loved having Matt off of work for a few days!

Andrew talked to Brooklynne for 10 minutes while holding her.  He told her about his car accident, it was so precious!  Emily wanted to be near Brooklynne for a good majority of the trip.

We loved spending time with the Nass kids!

I have such an incredible family!
From left to right: Matt, me, Brooklynne, Jason, Isaac, Antonio, Bethany, Emily, Caleb, Bob, Erica, Wendy, Brianna, Krista, Jerrod, Andrew, Dylan, Juli, John, Mom, Dad

Barley did such a great job on our trip, and slept the majority of the drive home.

We had such a wonderful time, and I took way too many pictures to post, but I hope you got a little glimpse of our fantastic weekend.  We are so excited about next year!

Pool Time

We took Brooklynne in the pool for the first time last week, and she loved it!  Brittany's parents have a pool at their house, and they invited us over to swim, and with the 103 degree days we've been having, we just couldn't say no.  I couldn't find her bathing suit, so I just used a cover to her cloth diaper as a swim suit, which worked out well.  They had a floaty that we could borrow, so she just floated around the whole pool, and never fussed once.  We went again on Saturday evening, and this time I held her more because it wasn't as hot out, and she wanted to be more in the water, it seemed.  She loved to lay on her back in the water and kick her legs.  I hope she continues to enjoy swimming like Matt and me!

20 weeks old!

My precious girl is 140 days old, where has the time gone.  I was looking through all the "week" posts that I've done just the other day, and wow, I thought she was cute then, she keeps getting cuter every day!  I am constantly overcome with how much I love this little one, and it's still hard to believe that I'm blessed to be her mommy.
Amongst our tummy time, story time, naps, meals, and diapey changes, I've been working on "sitting up" with B.  She still bends over quite a bit, but I can tell a difference every day.  Tuesday, during night night story time with Matt, she was bending over to get closer to the book, and then pulled herself back up, Matt was so excited about it and called me into the room to show me.
She loves faces.  While video chatting with my sister on Wednesday afternoon, Juli got really close to the camera to say bye to B, and B tried to grab her face multiple times.  When someone is holding her close enough to their face, she will grab it, and their hair if it's long enough.  She also loves video chatting with her aunt Juli, she thinks it's very fun.
I made green beans for her, so we are going to try those today and see how she likes them.
I am one blessed mama!

Today, the 8th, is my sister's birthday, Happy 24th birthday Julianna, we love you very much, and we wish we could celebrate with you today!

B's first Giants Game!!

If you remember my Father's Day post, then you know that I gave Matt tickets to the Fourth of July Giants game for his gift.  We took Brooklynne with us, and we had so much fun, unfortunately, they lost.  My parents live a few blocks from the BART station in Concord, so we parked there and took BART into the city, which is super convenient.  Brooklynne loved being on the train and watching the city go by through the windows, until she realized that the train was making a very nice white noise, and she fell asleep very quick and slept almost the entire trip.

this is what her hair looked like once we sunscreened her all over.

Once we got to the city, I put her in the front pack and we walked to the park.  I made her a tutu to wear when we walked in, and it looked super cute on her, people kept commenting about how cute she was!

She was happy for the first two innings, and then got hungry, so I fed her, but she didn't want to finish eating because it was too hot since we were in the sun.  She was happy for about 30 minutes and then started getting fussy again, so we went to the bathroom so she could finish eating, and she was happy the rest of the game, and fell asleep soon after.

The Beautiful AT&T Ballpark

Once we got into the shade, it got a little chilly, so I was able to put her panda hat on.

I love my little Giants fan!

We had such a wonderful time at the game, and we can't wait to take B to another one!

The weekend away sure did tucker out B and B, this is how they rode back home.

Fourth of July

We celebrated our nations Independence Day on the 3rd this year, and we had a blast doing it!  We drove to my parents church on Sunday morning, and then had lunch with them afterwards.  That evening we made a picnic and brought it over to the park where Calvary Temple was hosting The Singing Flag.  This was the 23rd annual Singing Flag, and it was so much fun to bring Matt to it for the first time.  We used to go to it every year when we were younger, so it was fun to show it to him, although it's definitely geared toward children.  They had fireworks at the end and Brooklynne loved them, she sat on Matt's lap and watched them the whole time.

They have each of the people who have served or are serving in the military stand when they play their branch's song.  My dad was in the NAVY, and this has always my favorite part of the entire show.

Monday morning we went to breakfast with my parents and then watched some of the Fourth of July parade in Concord.

What a blessed people we are to live in a nation where we can live how we choose, worship how and who we choose and be who we want to be.  We daily take it for granted, and I pray that we can be more of a people who realize what we have and thank the Lord for it!

Saying goodbye to the Masons

My brother in law, Jerrod just graduated from UC Berkeley in May, and accepted a job offer for a business in Washington DC.  They left last Monday to drive out there, stopping along the way to visit cool places; Grand Canyon, Death Valley, New Orleans, and other places.  They'd been living behind my parents since  the fall before we got married, so almost 4 years now, and we're very sad that they moved.  They stopped in Manteca to say bye to us before they left, so we brought Barley with us so that he could say bye to their dog, Shelley.  Barley and Shelley are best friends, and it's so sad that Barley may never get to see her again.  We love you guys so much, and we will miss you so much!
