It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

    We're 29 weeks pregnant and we had another ultrasound on Friday.  At our last ultrasound the doctor found something called a Choroid Plexus Cyst in the Choroid Plexus of her brain.  The brain contains pockets or spaces called ventricles with a spongy layer of cells and blood vessels called the choroid plexus. This is in the middle of the fetal brain. The choroid plexus has the important function of producing a fluid called cerebrospinal fluid. The fluid produced by the cells of the choroid plexus fills the ventricles and then flows around the brain and the spinal cord to provide a cushion of fluid around these structures.  CPCs can form within this structure and come from fluid trapped within this spongy layer of cells, much like a soap bubble or a blister. CPCs are often called "soft signs" or fetal ultrasound "markers" because some studies have found a weak association between CPCs and fetal chromosome abnormalities (wikipedia).  Since they can turn into something bad, they wanted to do another ultrasound (a more accurate, level 2 ultrasound) on her just to make sure everything was okay.  It was pretty scary not being able to do anything about it for the past 3 weeks, but we've appreciated all the people who have been praying for us!  The cyst was completely gone on the ultrasound!!  Praise the Lord!!  Since we had another ultrasound, I asked if they could double check the gender because we didn't get to see it on the screen...she's definitely a little girl!!

          Matt was raking the leaves yesterday so we had a little fun with the leaves.  Then we went to see White Christmas in Sonora with Matt's family and it was so much fun!  We leave for our babymoon/anniversary trip on Thursday which we are super excited about!
