likes and dis-likes

There have been a few things bugging me lately, so I decided to tell my blog (sorry for the rant).  Dis-likes first:

1.  people not holding the door open for a lady with a stroller and a kid in the stroller.
2.  fitness instructors that can't keep a beat (ugh, that makes me so annoyed)....worst class ever.
3.  when people don't tip at Starbucks (it's like they're saying "yes I do want my $.05 you can't have it even though you're here in the middle of the night making my drink")and("yeah, you made me a delicious beverage, and yeah, you know my name, and yeah, you know that I want napkins and water and extra straws, but no...I'm not going to tip you...see you tomorrow, because I only come if you're working").  Oh, and people that you give free drinks to, i.e., friends or when the computer's down...and they don't tip...come on, I just gave you a free drink.
4.  baby weight that stays on your tummy...could be the cookies I eat, though.
5.  not getting sleep at normal hours.
6.  cars that don't work.
7.  debt
8.  thrift store charging WAYYYYY too much for stuff.
9.  the new red head on The Office...SO OBNOXIOUS.  She will probably be the reason we stop watching.
10.  people thinking they can walk up to the Starbucks window...and get a 1 am...scaring the living daylights out of me...I think my heart stops every time.  PEOPLE, IT'S NOT ALLOWED, IT DANGEROUS AND YOU MAKE ME PEE MY PANTS (not really that last part).

But there are good things too:

1.  Family (they're pretty cute...that husband and daughter)
2.  Home/house
3.  my job...I mean, who doesn't want to drink free starbucks all night.  but especially Husbands job.
4.  gym memberships to gyms that have awesome if only they'd get WiFi and an ice machine/better tasting water (anyone from my gym reading this?!?!?!?!?)
5.  Strollers that have shades on top, multiple cup holders and baskets to carry my groceries in.
6.  people who open doors for ladies with strollers (there are much fewer of them, unfortunately).
7.  people who tip at starbucks every time they come in or through the drive through ( come on people, it's the right thing to do).
8.  my sisters...they're pretty much the coolest.
9.  mother in law...she really is wonderful.
10.  naps (when I get them)
11.  almost daily phone convo's with my mama
12.  most things being within walking distance
13.  most things.  most things don't bother me.
14.  my friend being really brave in the car the other day and telling people to stop gossiping...that was pretty awesome!
15.  Church family camp....coming up sooooo soon!!
16.  The cops that come through the drive through at night...they're cute which makes the night easier, but they're just so nice.
17.  Cougar Town (ummm....hilarious).

What do you like or dis-like? And yes, I know I sound pretty annoying.

Come back tomorrow for Friday Photo dump...I've got some good ones!

more children

Three days after Brooklynne turned one year old I already had people asking me when we were going to get pregnant again.  There have been people in my moms group that have commented that I will be pregnant right away now that B is one.  A few ladies from my church have said that they need more babies in the nursery and there was even one lady who said I've lost all this weight "just in time to get pregnant again."  Now don't get me wrong, I want more children, I've always dreamed of having a largish family, but I am in no rush.  We are so happy with just Brooklynne right now and I couldn't imagine changing this dynamic...yet.

I look at Brooklynne and I don't think about how I miss her being little (she's still little).  I'm not the type to want my baby smaller again, in fact, the opposite.  That's not saying that I want time to speed up and that I want her to be big, but I look forward to those things.  I look forward to her playing sports, and going to school, and riding in the front seat, and drinking coffee with me (girl better drink coffee).

I've lost a lot of weight since having Brooklynne, and I have a few more pounds to go to get to my "goal weight," and I really want to enjoy my smaller body for a while before getting pregnant again.  I've also read some research on sibling spacing saying that the more time you put in between children, the better reading and math scores they can have.  I'm not saying this is the case for all children, my sisters sons are 18 months apart, and they are two of the smartest boys I have ever met, if not the smartest, and that's not just a proud aunt bragging...they are crazy smart.  But considering that I'm REALLY not the brightest bulb in the package, I want to give my children the best opportunity that they can have!

So with all of this said, if we ended up getting pregnant before we want to, I know we'd be happy about it, but for now we are waiting.  We are not AT ALL planning on getting pregnant this calendar year.  None of this was written to say that this is the way that everyone should do it, this was written to tell people the what and why of what we are doing.  I have strong convictions that everyone should do what is right and best for their family, not anyone else's.

And now because every post is better with photos, here's a favorite of mine!!

Menu Plan Monday (on Tuesday)

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been posting our menus.  Don't worry, I still have been menu planning every week, and I still love how much less stressful it makes my week!!  I hope to start planning a month at a time, so hopefully I'll start doing that soon.  Matt designed a perfect menu planning/shopping list for me, and I hope to show you all soon!  Here's our menu for the week (I'm going to out of town this weekend, so I didn't plan every day).  Oh, and by the way, I've decided to have my week start on Tuesdays and end the following Monday for planning since I shop early Tuesday mornings and I like to have the following Monday planned out.

Roast Chicken
Roasted Fingerling Potatoes
Steamed Broccoli

Pepperoni Pizza with veggies

Chicken Enchiladas (using leftover chicken from Tuesday)
Beans and Rice

Out of town

Whole Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

What are you making this week?  Have you tried menu planning?  If you have, do you notice a difference in your meal stress level and your grocery budget?  Any tips for me??

Happy Tuesday

Our Weekend Update

Oh man, I wish weekends came faster and stayed longer...this was one of those weekends that you just wished it could keep on going!

My car died on Wednesday in the parking lot of the grocery store, and it sat there till Friday when we had time to get AAA to tow it home.
Once we got it home we went and got frozen yogurt because I was given a gift card for my birthday!

Brooklynne loved Matt's yogurt and probably would have eaten the entire thing.

Matt and Barley love to cuddle.

On Saturday I went to a conference for MOPs leaders out in Pleasanton, so Matt hung out with Brooklynne for the majority of the day.
He sent me this picture of her halfway through the day...they're such goofs.

Saturday night I grilled hot dogs and we had dinner in the backyard, it was so much fun!!

On Sunday morning I dropped the boys off in Lathrop at Del Osso Family Farms for the Survivor Mud Run, then B and I went and got coffee.
Their race started at 9:30 am so they had to be there at 8:30.  The race was a little more than 3 miles of running and super muddy obstacle courses, and they had a blast  I had really wanted to participate with them, but we didn't have the money for both of us.

Now prepare yourself for a ridiculous amount of muddy photos.
These are at the very end of the race, but I couldn't get any photos any sooner.

Matt said he was pulling his pants up the whole time, and I noticed that the people in the tightest clothes seemed to do a better job.

Jared, Matt, and Greg

They all got medals and t-shirts that said "I survived the Mud Run" and we celebrated their survival with McDonalds...YUM!!

On Sunday evening we went to the gym to go swimming.  I love having a gym membership so we have a pool to use whenever we want (when the gym's open, of course)...we don't' have to call people to see if we can use theirs, which is always so awkward!  And our gym has 3 pools, an indoor lap pool, indoor therapy pool (which is available most of the day), a big outdoor pool with lots of lawn chair and two big twisty tube slides, and a kiddie pool which B loved!!

How was your weekend?  Looking forward to next weekend yet?  I know I am!!!

Just for a quick comparison before I go:
