Friday Photo Dump

Friday Photo Dump photos are taken on the Instagram iPhone app (free) and dropped into a 4x4 collage. I am "annalisaj" on Instagram if you want to follow the feed.

Our Thursday was uneventful with Brooklynne waking up around 8.  Right away she wanted to put her backpack on and walk around with it.

The morning was cloudy and even though it was supposed to clear up by the afternoon, it didn't.

Brooklynne and I went on a walk and then I made cookies.

I made mac and cheese for dinner using this recipe, and it was delicious!

We go home tomorrow, so I have to start packing today.  It will be so nice to go home, but I am so not excited to go back to totally not excited.
Anyways, we'll see what today brings!

Our Wednesday was great, Brooklynne slept until 8:30, so we got up and had breakfast.  She actually took a morning nap so I got to watch the news (oh cable, you're so distracting).

Since it wasn't as windy today as it has been the past few days, we put our swim suits on

and walked down to the sand.

cutest little booty ever!

She loved looking at our shadows.

We went to Sprinkles Cupcakes and got some yummy treats

And then had an unhealthy dinner tonight, which Brooklynne obviously enjoyed.

I put her down for bed at 7:15 (her typical bedtime is 8:30) and she fell asleep so fast, but her naps have been so sporadic since we've been here.  I want to say that hopefully they'll be better today, but I think that's wishful thinking.

Our Tuesday was a little less eventful than our Monday.  Since we're not at home Brooklynne isn't sleeping all that well, and being int he same room as me does not help her.  The door knob to our room squeaks whenever it's opened or closed, so as soon as I went into the room last night to go to bed, she woke up.  I had to nurse her to get her back to sleep, but she slept until 7:30 this morning.  I love being able to get up at 7:30 and not be tired, unlike at home when I'm tired 24/7.  Waking up to the waves and going upstairs to enjoy my coffee and watch the ocean is absolutely amazing, this week is so what I needed!

Since Brooklynne wasn't wanting to take a nap, I took her on a walk, but she still didn't want to go to sleep so we picked up some donut holes.  They were 10 cents each, so we bought 10...B had three, which meant that I ate seven donut holes...crazy me!!

she loves anything with her mama.

This is how we stroll.

Our view along the walk.

oh hi, pumpkin.

Free to run after she got out of the stroller.

She's so fun!

We went outside to enjoy the beach, and because she still wasn't going down for a nap, but it was way too windy, Brooklynne wasn't too keen on it.

Lindsay's dog, Cous Cous follows her around all day, and she loves it.

Dinner time, all the dogs are just waiting for B to drop something.

I made cookies tonight for dessert and of course, my kid loved them.

love her.

That was our Tuesday...we'll see what Wednesday brings us.

i carry your heart

Like I said in my last post, I got my first tattoo yesterday, and since I didn't post a picture of it, I thought I would and explain the reason I got it.  In 2005 my sister gave me a collage with a poem by E.E. Cummings in the middle of it, this is the poem:

I carry your heart with me
(I carry it in my heart)
I am never without it
(anywhere I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear no fate
(for you are my fate, my sweet)
I want no world
(for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart
(I carry it in my heart)
- E. E. Cummings -

The two most important people in my life are my husband and daughter, I could not live without them, and I am such a blessed woman to have them, so I got this tattoo because of them.  I know for the rest of my life, no matter what, I will always carry Brooklynne's heart in my heart.  As many of you know, my little sister (the one who gave me the collage and the one I named my daughter after) is one of the most important women in my life.  I know this sounds cheesy, but until she got married I carried her heart in my heart, and if she got hurt, I got hurt. Anyways, that's the reasoning, or basically, so here's my tattoo:

it's on my inner forearm on my right arm...and I absolutely love it!!

We had such a fun day yesterday!  One of my best girls came to visit us yesterday, and we had the best time!  Brooklynne and I went on a walk in the morning to get some coffee, and then we came back to find Kelsey waiting for us!  We got to hang out at the house for a little while and then we left once Doug got there to be with my aunt.  We drove down the street to Newport Tattoo and there I got my first tattoo!
Auntie Kelsey and Baby B

Apparently Lindsay is the baby whisperer

Taking the plunge!

I ended up passing out, but not till it was completely over so they gave me a can of coke to get my blood sugar back up...I almost turned it down because I stopped drinking soda back in August, but I'm glad I didn't, it was the best thing I've ever had!! And I have never really liked regular Coke.

After that we got lunch from Chipotle, yum!

Kelsey and Jessica

Lindsay and me

I wish we didn't live so far away from each other.

After lunch we came back to the house and Brooklynne played

She wanted to be on the dog bed constantly.

Silly girl!

Precious Twister.

We had a wonderful day and we're excited to go to the beach today!!

Menu Plan Monday {2}

Well, we're to our second Menu Plan Monday, but this week's a little different.  If you read my last post you know that I'm out of town for the week, and Matt's home alone (with the dog).  Even though I won't be home with him this week, I still made a menu, and this is the first time I've ever done that for him.  Other times when I've been gone for more than a day I've just asked him to go to his parents house to eat, otherwise he'd have cereal for every meal.  But last week I planned ahead and got a few things into the freezer for him so he'd be set for the week.  I made burritos, taquitos, pizza rolls, muffins, and I picked up some breakfast things because I ran out of time.  So here's his menu for the week:

Pizza Rolls
Salad (wishful thinking)

I know it's a super repetitive menu, but it's something and I know that he'll be eating, and it's all stuff he can throw in the microwave when he gets home so late.

Matt's not too keen on packing his own lunch, so if I don't, he'll just pick up McDonald's or In N' Out, which can cost us $15-$30 a week, which is not cool.  I'm fine with him getting lunch out once a week because he really does enjoy it, but just not ever day!  To encourage him to pack a lunch I prepped the snacks for his lunch box, so even if he doesn't make a sandwich, he has enough food in their to hold him over till he gets home (again, wishful thinking).  Here it is:

He has M&M's, a granola thin, nuts, crackers, cookies and a juice mix, and under it all is a napkin with a note written on it (he refers to them as napkin notes), and yes I did write a note for each day.

Here's all of his snacks lined up, and I'm so glad it's done...maybe I'll keep doing this, it would help cut down on lunch prep time.

Anyways, I hope you get some inspiration for meal planning on lunch box prep from this, but if you don't, I know my hubs is benefitting!!

Happy Monday!!

Weekend Update

We've been in Newport Beach all weekend, and it has been so much fun.  My aunt and uncle are out of town for the week so they asked if I could come and be at the house with my great aunt so she'd always have someone here.  My mom, Matt, Brooklynne and I left on Friday evening at 7 and drove down here to Southern California.

Brooklynne's got her backpack on and she's all ready to start our road trip!

B found some seaweed, and didn't want to let it go.

Girl loves her some daddy time!!

Someone likes Hawaiian Sweet Rolls...but can you blame her much?

I'm not joking when I say that I didn't not pose this at all, this is all them.

Love her face.

the after-roll mess.

Brooklynne loves doggies!

We hung out at my aunt and uncles for the morning and then our great friends, Brandon and Kim came over.  We went to Fashion Island, which is where I worked when I lived here.  There's a bakery there that I love and I really wanted a croissant from them, but everything on their menu was really expensive, so we got Wahoo's Fish Tacos instead.
She was pretty fussy during our lunch, but ate anyways.

precious girl.

Brooklynne's making a funny face, but it was the only picture that came out well.

Matt and Brandon playing smash ball.

On Sunday, we hung around in the morning, then went on a walk because Brooklynne wasn't wanting to nap, so we went to Starbucks (shocking).  On our way back it started raining like crazy, and it was super windy, so we tried to run back but the wind was so strong.  It's been raining all afternoon, but it's supposed to clear up around 4 am, and it should be clear and in the 60's all week, yay!!

I will try to post this week about what Brooklynne and I are doing, or at least some pretty beach pictures for you all!!
