10 weeks

Brooklynne turned 10 weeks old on Wednesday, and as I always say, she keeps changing every day, which is to be expected.  She now stays awake for a good majority of the morning, but after about 2 she has short wake times after I feed her.  She's rolled over a few times, but hates being on her tummy, but I keep trying every day!  She loves lights, fans, mobiles, and anything you put in front of her face.  We're using cloth diapers now, which are fantastic, and saving me so much money every week!  I just love my precious girl!

Brooklynne and her new toy

I bought a new toy to hang from B's car seat, and she loves it!!

Easter Weekend 2011

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating the death and resurrection of our Lord!  Good Friday, Brooklynne and I walked to Starbucks (free coffee for earth day) in the morning, and it was such a good walk.  I really enjoy being outside with her, even though she sleeps most of the time, and it was wonderful to have her in the front pack!

Matt was able to get off of work at around 2 pm (amazing), so we were able to go to the Good Friday walk through at our church.  Matt's parents drove to our house and walked over to church with us, so we were able to enjoy it together.  Grandpa so graciously ;) offered to carry B in the front pack, and she slept the whole time!

Friday night Matt, Brooklynne and I drove to Bass Pro Shop in Manteca to visit the Easter Bunny (it was free), and we had so much fun.  I fed B before going in, so she was a happy girl the entire time.  Since it was free, and Friday, there was a pretty long line, but luckily the line moved quite quickly.

The picture we got of her with the Easter bunny is at my parents house, so I'll fix this post on Friday with the picture.

Sunday we went to church and we had a wonderful time.  Brooklynne has been going into the nursery during church, but since it was Easter, we wanted to keep her with us.  I don't think we'll do that again because she was fussy the entire time, so I sat in the foyer with her for the majority of the service.

We were able to take a nice family picture in our coordinating Easter clothes.  This is not something my family did at all growing up, but I wanted to do it for my little family.  I made my skirt, and with the leftover fabric, I made posies for B and myself, so we were all wearing gray and pink.  B's dress was still a little big on her (we bought it in January), but it still looked SUPER cute!

We had a wonderful afternoon as well at Matt's parents house, and didn't get home until 10:30 that night.

Praise the Lord for HIS death and resurrection and the life that it has given us!

Happy Easter!!

9 Weeks

So, I haven't had a chance to post her 9 week pictures, even though she'll be 10 weeks in two days, but I'm going to do it now anyways.  Last Wednesday was B's 9 weeks, and I still can't believe it.  She's getting so much bigger, and it's a little bit sad, but I take each day she's older as another blessing that she's with us.  This little girl of ours brightens our days, and I praise God we get to raise her!!

Besties Photoshoot

Today Jessica and I met at Picture People to have a photoshoot of our beauties together.  We're hoping and praying that they will be best friends when they're older and have the opportunity to have a similar relationship to their mommies, but for now, they're besties whether they want to be or not.  It was so much fun, and for almost the entire time both girls just hung out, but B started to get fussy towards the end.  The photographer got some great shots, but we used a coupon that was good for 1 pose, so we chose our favorite.  Brooklynne and I are so blessed to have such awesome girlfriends in our lives, and we couldn't be more thankful for Jessica and Tynlee!!!

2 months old

My daughter turned two months old yesterday, and oh wow, it has gone by so quick!  We had a wonderful Saturday which started off with delivering a birthday cake to Brentwood, then we met my mom for lunch at Mimi's.  We had such a wonderful time just talking for almost three hours, and I really appreciated that she drove out to Brentwood to meet us!

We drove back home and hung out for the rest of the afternoon, then had a photoshoot and made cupcakes for B's birthday.

I put B in her bouncy seat after the cupcakes were in the oven and it was so cute to watch her stare at the  owl on the mobile on her bouncy seat.

and of course we did her official 2 month picture with the cupcakes!!  I love my little 2 month old!!

in the crib!

At Brooklynne's doctor's appointment on Wednesday, her doctor asked how long she's sleeping at night, to which I responded 8-10 hours.  She was very impressed and said that it was time that she sleeps in her own room.  I had wanted to move her to her crib at a month, but was too lazy to do it (and I liked her sleeping next to me), but since the doc said that, we decided that it was indeed time.  Wednesday night was her first night all by herself, and it went so well.  I usually give her her last feeding around 9, and then she sleeps either in my arms, Matt's arms, or on her Boppy until we go to bed, which is what I did on Wednesday night.  Once we were ready to go to sleep, and Matt had gotten the monitor set up, I sang to her (Silent Night), we prayed with her, and put her in her crib.  I was a little bit emotional as this was the first time I worried about SIDS since she wasn't next to me, but I'm so thankful she's in her own room now.  I'm not at all trying to say that we minded having her in our room, it was just time to have our room back.  Last night was even better.  I taught cake decorating last night, and picked B up from her grandparents afterwards (I hung out and had pizza before leaving), brought her home and gave her a bath.  She decided she wanted to be awake for a little while, so at 10 I put her in her crib and she fell asleep within 5 minutes, although I did have to go into her room to put her pacifier back in her mouth (sometimes I want to tape it to her face, but I'm not a bad mother).  I am so proud of my good sleeper, and so thankful for the good sleep she's letting me get!

8 weeks old!

My child is 8 weeks old today...CRAZY!  Her neck keeps getting stronger every day, and it's so much fun to watch her hold her head up.  She's also tracking all the time, and really enjoys watching Daddy.  She gets upset when I do floor exercises during my workout, but loves when I do jumping jacks.  She's still sleeping very well, and the doctor told us it's time to put her in her crib for bed time since she's sleeping so long, so we'll be trying it out tonight.  She loves to be in her car seat, go on walks, take car rides, and sit on her boppy.  She sleeps so much better if she's swaddled and if she's fussy, or crying at all, we just swaddle her and she automatically calms down.  She loves her noise maker, and any noise we make that sounds like it, including the loud vacuum doesn't seem to bother her at all).  Matthew and I are so blessed with such an incredible girl, and we look forward to every day with her!!

I had a hard time deciding which pictures to put on her "week" picture, so here are the other cute candidates!!  My girl is such a cutie!!

Two Month Doctors Visit

Today was Broolynne's 2 month doctors visit, and it went well.  Her doctor was pleased with how well she's growing, and despite the fact that everyone says she's so small, and some people even questioning
whether I'm feeding her enough, she's on the charts, and growing just fine.  She weighs 8 pounds, 14.5 ounces, and she's 21 1/4 inches long.  She also got her first set of shots.  We've decided that we won't be doing all of the shots with Brooklynne, but there are a few we will be doing.  Right now in Stanislaus County pertussis (whooping cough) is prevalent in infants, so she got the DTap (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis) immunization today, and oh boy did she hate it!  The nurse had me hold down her arms, and she held her legs and stuck that needle right into her little thigh, luckily, since I know it'll be a beneficial thing for her, it didn't get to me.  I'm very proud of my big little girl, and thankful for her almost 2 months of life!!

Yesterday my parents came over to bring our dog back home and to have dinner with us.  Since they got there a while before Matt got off of work, and they hadn't gotten to walk in the morning, they went for a walk and took Brooklynne with them, which gave me a chance to get the laundry put away.  We had a wonderful time wit them for dinner, as we always do, and we so appreciated them taking care of Barley and picking him up and taking him back home.

B's first traumatizing event...

After we left KOA on Sunday we drove down to Sunset Beach for lunch.  This was B's second beach trip, yet she still had never touched the Pacific Ocean, so we changed that, but had bad timing.  I got her out of her car seat, where she was cozy, and sleeping (away from the wind), and gave her to Matt after taking her socks off.  He took her down to the water and just as he was about to put her toes in, a wave came up and completely drenched her pants.  Needless to say, the only part she liked was Daddy snuggling her really close afterwards.

She was happier with a dry pair of pants and her blanket and sunglasses...every baby needs a pair of faux Ray Bans!!!!

KOA Family Camp 2011

Matt, Brooklynne and I spent this last weekend at the KOA in Watsonville (south of Santa Cruz) for our church's family camp.  We had so much fun hanging out with Matt's family, and other people from our church.  This year was better for me because since I've gotten even more involved at MCC in the past year, I knew a lot more people that were there.  We left on Friday afternoon and met my Mom in Tracey to give her our dog.  The past two years we've taken him with us, and it's just too much work.  We were constantly limited as to what we could do, and with a newborn this year, we decided that it would be better not to bring him.  We got to KOA at around 8 on Friday evening and set up camp.  It was cold, and we didn't want to stay up too late, so we went to bed at about 10.  Brooklynne slept in her little bed for almost 10 hours, which was wonderful, but I think she knew she wasn't in her normal bed because she slept very restlessly, which meant I didn't get that much sleep.  Saturday, Matt hung out with his brother and the other guys that were there.  They played whiffle ball, ultimate frisbee and football, and then Matt, Jared and Brittany jumped on the jumping pillow, and rode banana bikes.

and posed awkwardly

Brooklynne and I spent most of the afternoon walking around the camp and visiting with people, we had a very nice time.

Brooklynne loved hanging out with Uncle Jared and Aunt Brittany.

The Kozy Kabins are so much fun!!

Brooklynne is excited for family camp next year when she'll be a year old!!

7 weeks old

Today is B's 7 week birthday...holy smokes!  She gets more and more fun every day, and I love every second with her!  She is smiling all the time, staring at both of us a lot, and sleeping 8-10 hours a night (thanks to the book, BabyWise).  We're going to Santa Cruz this weekend for our church family camp, and we're very excited; Brooklynne's going on her first camping trip before she's 2 months old.  Some people think we're crazy, but that's okay.  It's absolutely incredible to be home with her everyday, and I couldn't be a more proud mommy.  I am blessed beyond belief and super thankful for my little 7 week old!

Spring is here

We've been having very nice warm weather the past few days, and I've been loving it.  I love the green grass, the birds in the trees, the daffodils and tulips, flowers in the trees, and afternoon walks with my family.  I love this time of year, and I am so blessed to have such an incredible family that I love so much!

I walked to Target this afternoon with Brooklynne, and Matt and Barley met us there and walked back home with much fun!!

these two are my favorite people!!

Our Chinese Homestay

We had the opportunity to host a Chinese scholar from Berkeley this past weekend, and it was a lot of fun! I picked up Sara on Friday evening from church and brought her back here and asked her questions about China, and her family.  She's from the Harmin area in China, and she's married and has an 8 year old daughter back in China.  She's a professor at a university in China and she's studying linguistics at Berkeley.  Saturday morning I made a good American breakfast of pancakes and eggs and then met at church with the rest of the students and their hosts.  We went to Fiscalini Dairy in Salida and was given a tour of the dairy, and then sampled a few of the cheeses that they make there.  All of the students loved Brooklynne and took a ton of pictures of her and kept saying she was a super star, it was very sweet!

Irene delivered Brooklynne

After the dairy we drove to Orangeblossom recreation area by the Stanislaus River for a picnic lunch and got to know Sara a little better.  Matt played a little baseball with some of the guys after lunch and Sara held Brooklynne the entire time, which Brooklynne enjoyed!

After that we went to Burchell Nursery where Mr. Burchell showed how they graft trees; it was quite interesting.  He gave us a tour of the warehouse where they keep all the trees about to be shipped out.

After the nursery we went to Wally and Lydia Carroll's house for line dancing and an ice cream social.   The Carrolls were so kind to open their house, and we had a wonderful time and the ice cream was delicious.

We came back to our house that evening and I made dinner.  Sunday morning we went to church and then had a potluck afterwards with all the students, had some singing time, and they did a few performances for us and then we had to say goodbye.  We were so blessed to have Sara at our house for a few days.

Fun time with the Nasses

We had a wonderful day with Wendy and the kids here on Thursday, as well.  We started the day off with pancakes for breakfast, and then walked to Starbucks.

Brooklynne loved hanging out with her cousins, and Brianna and Erica wanted to hold her the hold her the whole time and they were both so good with her.  It was such a blessing to be able to spend three days with them!

Since Bob and his team took I-5 to go back home they said we could meet up with them in Lathrop, so we drove up there this afternoon so Wendy and the kids were able to caravan with them, and Bob was able to meet Brooklynne, and I'm so glad he did.  I wish I could have had more time with him (I wish he lived closer), but it was a blessing to see him for a little while, but we don't get to see them again until Thanksgiving.  I am so blessed to have such an incredible family, and Brooklynne is so blessed with such incredible aunts and uncles.  She has officially met all 5 of her aunts, all 6 of her uncles, and all 8 of her cousins.  She is a loved little girl!!
